Allison Speck was a 2009 graduate of Susquenita High School. Everything she did, she did with passion. She loved to play soccer and field hockey and was quite the competitor. She was a member of the National Honor Society. She loved to read, sing, write stories and create music. God gifted Allie with an amazing voice! She participated in plays and musicals and was chosen for the lead role her senior year.
Allie entered Messiah College in August 2009. In December 2009 Allie was diagnosed with a very rare cancer after a very large tumor was found on her liver. The news was devastating! She was a freshman in college with big dreams of becoming a missionary for God. Allie missed her entire second semester of college to endure a very grueling course of chemo that took her hair, her ability to be a normal college student and about 40 pounds…but it did not dampen her spirit.
The chemo was successful in shrinking the tumor and in July 2010 she endured a very complicated surgery to have the tumor removed and was declared cancer free! We celebrated and thought the journey was over, but 8 months later in March 2011, Allison was told she had tumors in her liver and new tumors in her lungs. She endured 5 years of chemo, surgeries and radiation; treatments that may have destroyed a lesser person.
While receiving treatments, Allie traveled and shared her testimony of faith. She trusted that God had a good plan for her life. He used her faith to allow others to see Jesus. If you had the opportunity to know Allie, your life was forever changed. Allie shared her faith and achieved her dream of becoming a missionary. It was not her plan but it was God’s plan.
In 2013 Allie made a courageous decision to stop all treatments to achieve some personal goals. She took a three week mission trip to Kenya, graduated with honors from Messiah College and on June 15, 2013 she got married. She amazed everyone with her determination, including her doctors. She accomplished things in her 23 year life span that some people will never experience in an entire lifetime.
On March 5th, 2014 God called Allie home. She is missed by everyone who knew her, but her amazing and resilient spirit lives on in those who choose to celebrate her life, her laughter and her legacy. We encourage you to live your life by Allie’s rules: dream BIG, live vibrantly, have faith, trust Jesus, work hard, be kind, leave your mark on the world in a positive way and live life to the fullest.
We pray "Called to Live a Vibrant Life" blesses you and allows you to draw closer to the God that loves you, has a good plan for you and who holds Allie in His arms….until we meet again.
